Description

King Competition MSHG6 Gen 6 Magnetic Shotgun Shell Holder

The King Competition MSHG6 is a 6th-generation 8-round shotgun shell holder that uses high-strength magnets for shell retention. Designed and manufactured by IPSC World Champions in Finland, the Gen 6 represents six generations of refinement in materials, retention strength, and shell positioning.

Summary

An 8-round, Gen 6 caddy with high-strength magnetic retention for fast, drag-free release, the MSHG6 features self-leveling 4-shell modules that fit standard 12-gauge 2-3/4″ cartridges and allow spring tuning via the main bolt. Its rigid, curved skeleton and staggered left/right configurations support quad or dual loading with minimal belt footprint. Mounting options include a 360° rotation adapter for Tek-Lok or Safariland ELS, or direct attachment; it complies with IPSC’s 75mm rule without an adapter. Package includes the shell holder, hook-and-loop strips, and M6 screws; belt adapter is sold separately.

Shells are held within the geometry of the holder and locked by magnets. Release is a short pull that detaches the shells completely — there’s no dragging or friction-based retention to fight against. Each 4-shell unit is independently self-leveling, automatically adjusting to accommodate any standard 12-gauge 2-3/4″ competition cartridge (birdshot, buckshot, or slug) without manual tuning. Spring tension and travel can be fine-tuned by rotating the main bolt if desired, but the factory setting works across all standard competition shell types.

The skeleton construction is rigid and the backing plate is curved on an angled axis to conform to your waist. Shells are staggered for either right-handed or left-handed grip (select the correct variation when ordering) and spaced with minimum distance to each other for efficient belt use. The holder supports quad loading, dual loading, or any combination.

The Gen 6 adapter system provides a rigid 360° rotation attachment for Blade-Tech Tek-Lok or Safariland ELS systems. The caddy can also be mounted directly via included hook-and-loop strips or M6 screws through the skeleton links. Belt adapter (Tek-Lok, ELS) is not included and must be purchased separately.

IPSC Note: The skeleton construction without an adapter complies with the IPSC 75mm rule. Using a Tek-Lok or ELS adapter may exceed the 75mm distance from the belt — check your division rules before mounting with an adapter for IPSC competition.

Q&A

Question: How does the MSHG6 retain and release shells?

Short answer: The Gen 6 uses high-strength magnets to lock shells within the holder’s geometry. Release is a short, direct pull that frees the shells completely—there’s no friction-based retention or dragging to overcome, enabling fast, clean grabs.

Question: Which shells does it fit, and do I need to adjust anything for different loads?

Short answer: It fits standard 12-gauge 2-3/4″ competition cartridges—birdshot, buckshot, or slugs. Each 4-shell module is independently self-leveling, automatically accommodating these shells without manual tuning. Spring tension and travel can be fine-tuned via the main bolt if desired, but the factory setting works across standard competition loads.

Question: Can I quad- or dual-load, and is there a left- or right-handed version?

Short answer: Yes. The rigid, curved skeleton and staggered shell layout support quad loading, dual loading, or any combination. You can select a left- or right-handed stagger when ordering to match your grip style, and the tight shell spacing keeps the belt footprint minimal.

Question: What mounting options are available, and what’s included in the box?

Short answer: You can mount it using the Gen 6 360° rotation adapter for Blade-Tech Tek-Lok or Safariland ELS systems, or attach it directly with the included hook-and-loop strips or M6 screws through the skeleton links. Included: the Gen 6 8-round shell holder (ASSM8), hook-and-loop strips, and M6 screws. Not included: the belt adapter (Tek-Lok or Safariland ELS), which must be purchased separately.

Question: Is it IPSC legal under the 75mm rule?

Short answer: Without an adapter, the skeleton construction complies with IPSC’s 75mm rule. Using a Tek-Lok or ELS adapter may exceed the 75mm distance from the belt, so verify your division’s rules before mounting with an adapter for IPSC competition.
