This round is a full power propellant charge and can generate enough chamber pressure to cycle semi-automatics. The added inertia of the 200 grain bullet is what gives it its subsonic muzzle speed. A suppressor will be more effective if there is no sharp cracking sound when the gun is ignited. It will also reduce the performance of a firearm that has not been suppressed!
Do not confuse this bullet with a hollow-point! The bullet is open-tipped and therefore cannot expand while it penetrates the target or threat. Open tip bullets have a lead core that is form-fitted. This, along with the superior jacket concentricity, promotes excellent accuracy. The open tip bullet of this round has a flat jacketed base that will prevent deformation and allow propellant gases to push against a uniform surface.
Winchester loads the ammo in the U.S. using reusable brass cases and Boxer primers. The propellant is non-corrosive, with a clean burn.
